• Aids.org Bookmarks is uniquely designed for health research. The site makes it easy for anyone to tag and organize, their own health bookmarks and to effortlessly share their bookmarks with others.

Bookmarks are URLs that point to a web page. Bookmarks are usually stored in a web browser and allow you to quickly access web pages you’ve visited in the past. 

To get started simply create an account on Aids.org Bookmarks and start bookmarking! Non-members can browse through all the existing stacks/bookmarks on Aids.org Bookmarks but only members can contribute, rate and discuss bookmarks.

Del.icio.us and social bookmarking sites are great but they are so general that they are not particularly useful for sharing health and wellness bookmarks. Aids.org Bookmarks is more than social bookmarking. Aids.org Bookmarks is a dedicated community of professionals and consumers who care about HIV/AIDS and use the site to help both themselves and others.

Every time you take an action that helps others or yourself, you get  points. The points you earn are visible to other members on your profile page.

• By collecting your favorite bookmarks in a Health Stack, others with the same health research needs can benefit from all your hard work.  Aids.org Bookmarks gives you the tools to help yourself and help others at the very same time.
• As an added incentive for sharing what you have found with others , public Health Stacks are voted on and discussed by other members. Stacks with the highest ratings in each topic are featured on the site and on the home page.

A Health Stack is a collection of bookmarks on a common topic, theme or subject. You may place as many bookmarks as you would like into a single Stack and rate each bookmark for yourself. You may also upload a unique image for each Stack you create and add a description of the stack for yourself or others. You can also share your Health Stacks with others (friends, family members etc.) However, only you decide who can join and contribute to your Stack.

When you view all of your bookmarks on Aids.org Bookmarks, you see a visual "cloud" or grouping of all the tags you've used to describe each of your bookmarks. The larger the tag, the more often you have used that same word to describe your bookmarks. Clicking on any word in the tag cloud will bring all the bookmarks that have that tag associated with them.

A tag is a popular way to organize bookmarks. Unlike folders in a browser you can assign multiple tags to any bookmark. Tags can be descriptive (i.e. Cancer, Men, Treatments) or they can be subjective (good, bad, endearing). Tags can be anything that makes sense to you and that will help you find the bookmark again in the future.

• Once you create an account, click on account settings and you will be able to share a full range of information about yourself. You can share as much or as little as you would like to with the Aids.org Bookmarking community.
• You will have the option to upload a picture of yourself, a personal statement and links to external webpage profiles. If you are a Health Professional, please select your professional affiliation.  

Saving your bookmarks in your browser has limited value. Aids.org Bookmarks enables users to do more with their bookmarks. Some of these advantages include:

• Add and access bookmarks from anywhere
• Organize your bookmarks with your personal categories (Tags)
• See bookmarks visually with a preview image of each web site
• Combine related bookmarks into Health Stacks on any topic or theme
• Publish your Stacks on the site or share them with friends, family and other Aids.org members

• The easiest way to add new bookmarks to Aids.org Bookmarks is to install the "Aids.org Button". Once the Button is installed, you will be able to add bookmarks to Aids.org Bookmarks with just one click.
• You may also add bookmarks by copying & pasting any URL into the "Add New Bookmark" form. To do this, select "Create Content: Bookmarks" from the right hand navigation.
